Bible Verses for Encouragement

The Bible contains many encouraging words for Christians. Today, I am sharing a few verses you can refer to when needed. Be sure to consider the context for each verse. I promise they still hold encouragement in their biblical context.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. – Josh 1:9

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. – John 16:33

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. – 2 Tim 1:7

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. – Rom 15:13

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. – 1 Thess 5:11

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. – Is 40:31

I can do all things through him who strengthens me. – Php 4:13

Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord! – Psalm 3:24

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. – Jer 29:11

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. – John 14:27

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. – Heb 10:24-25

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. – 1 Cor 15:58

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. – Rom 15:4
