Theology of Waiting

Theology of Waiting

Have you ever found yourself waiting for something with impatience? We live in a society that is fast-paced, and we are used to doing everything quickly. However, despite our best efforts, waiting is still an inevitable part of our daily lives. From small to big things, we find ourselves waiting, and sometimes, patience can be challenging.

But what if I tell you that waiting can be an opportunity to grow our faith and trust in God? As Christians, we view our days through a theological lens and filter everything through our understanding of God. In waiting, we can recall Scriptures that reassure us of God’s faithfulness and trust that He knows what is best for us.

Waiting on God requires steadfast endurance, an essential aspect of our faith. It’s easy to give up and try to take matters into our own hands, but we are called to pray with hope and wait for God’s answer. During times of waiting, God grows us in strength and courage. We must stay expectant and trust in God’s promise by faith until its fulfillment.

So, let’s cling to our Savior rather than the outcome we desire, and in the waiting, our faith increases. Waiting is not about sitting around and doing nothing but hoping and looking to God for all that we need. It’s an active opportunity to grow in our relationship with Him and trust in His provision for us. As Warren Wiersbe notes, “If we trust ourselves, we will faint and fall; but if we wait on the Lord by faith, we will receive strength for the journey.”

God delights in pouring out grace and mercy. I hope that you will be encouraged, that right now the God of the universe waits to be gracious to you and desires to exalt himself by showing mercy to you today.

The LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore He will rise up to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him! – Is 30:18
