New Series: Caring for an Aging Parent

Are you or someone you know caring for an aging parent? I’ve revisited my dad’s journey with Lewy Body Dementia and will be sharing a little on Father’s Day weekend. Truth is, it was a journey I took with him. It was hard but God had a purpose in those years. I pray that my part in his journey served not only my dad well but also my Heavenly Father. Whether your aging parent has dementia or any other illness, I believe you can gain from my story. Keep in mind that this is an online blog. There is much more I could’ve shared with you. Some I simply chose not to share and more I did not for the sake of the length of each post.

In these blog posts, I will introduce you to my father in “Life with Dad.” I will share the struggles of a progressive disease and the need for a loved one’s care beyond independent living in “Navigating an Unexpected Season.” And then, the series will wrap up with “When the Season Ends” as we consider the involvement of the adult child and where they should find identity at end of life for the parent. You can look for these articles to post at 5:00 a.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of Father’s Day weekend.
